This is a unique opportunity to learn about the history of Laerdal Medical; why and how the company has become a leading provider of quality simulation solutions. At the SAFER centre you will be guided around the facilities and learn about the variety of simulation activities that take place here and how the simulation solutions are integrated with their multi-professional curriculum for both experts and novices. The two visits are organised as one excursion for practical purposes, as the Laerdal Medical and SAFER facilities are located right next to one another.
Participation requires pre-registration.

Registration may take place at the SESAM conference information desk if places are still available.

Time and transportation
A bus will take you from the SESAM venue (The University of Stavanger) to Laerdal Medical/SAFER in downtown Stavanger and back. The bus transportation will take place as follows:
Thursday: 13:00 – 15:00
Friday: 12:45 – 14:45

Note: The buses will depart from the SESAM venue right at lunch break. Participants are kindly asked to be on time and to follow the instructions from the tour guide at the SESAM venue centre.

SAFER – The dynamic simulation centre in Stavanger
SAFER – Stavanger Acute Medicine Foundation for Education and Research – was established in 2006 as a partnership among Stavanger University Hospital, The University of Stavanger and Laerdal Medical. The main goal of the centre is to enhance clinical competence and improve patient safety, primarily through simulation. I 2011 SAFER had 6800 course participants.

Laerdal Medical
Laerdal Medical has over 50 years of history within lifesaving first aid. During the visit you will learn more about their history and their active role in the development of medical simulation. You will also have the opportunity to visit the factory to see how some of the products are manufactured.
